Sustainable home in Berkshire

Arboreal are working on the design of a new, deeply sustainable home in Berkshire. Following the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) paragraph 80, we are developing a design of "exceptional quality... reflecting the highest standards in architecture". Our design thinking draws upon ancient traditions of earth architecture, resonating with ancient earthworks in the region, such as the Uffiington White Horse. Earth architecture offers valuable strategies for managing thermal performance, operational energy and carbon. It also allows the building to integrate with a surrounding landscape strategy that maximizes benefit to wildlife and gains in biodiversity.
